Nobody could have prepared me for the awe I experienced when I first came across the greenness of ​​the park of the Academy of Plato. Cypress, carob, laurel and olive trees, pomegranates, mulberries, myrtles. A mere 20 minutes (on foot, if I should mention…) from Metaxourghio or Sepolia Metro station.

150 acres of archaeological park, owned by the Municipality of Athens in lush, vivid gravel paths, specifically designed for children, shed in light through the night and splendidly mingled with an ancient site of utmost historical and philosophic significance.

The Academy of Plato is a place to be, but seems to be valued primarily by residents of surrounding neighborhoods, as most Athenians seem unaware of its existence!
