Anna FIlini: From Cavafy’s world

Start Date: January 18, 2019
End Date: February 17, 2019
Time:

Location: Benaki Museum, 138 Pireos street, Athens, www.benaki.gr

Description

Anna Filini presents her entire work on Cavafy’s poetry. Cavafy brings into his poetry a whole world composed of both historical figures and his contemporaries, who operate inside cities, public buildings, private houses and simple rooms. Even when he refers to the past, he speaks of real life as he experiences it in his days, and he continues as much as ever to speak to us in our time.

From this world Anna Filini derives ideas and provides her pictures. Her latest work continues on the spirit of the twenty four historical poems. Persons are presented in large portraits with modern clothes and framed by symbols and images that express the content of the dramatic event. Every work intents to reveal, together with the hero’s figure, the feelings and also the surrounding historical and political reality.
