Series of music concerts at the Stavros Niarchos Park

Parklife: The Classical Weekend

The SNFCC presents the series of music concerts Parklife. A multitude of styles and artists meet at the Park, as it turns itself into a music locus inviting the public to feel the music and dream along, the Park lends itself for two special weekends to musical melodies hosting artists and music ensembles, aspiring to provide a unique experience of inspiration, nature and creativity.

Classical melodies resonate in the Park, with one of the most modern opera halls in Europe acting as a background. The Greek National Opera welcomes visitors at its future home hosting an outdoor concert, presenting famous operas, and the young friends of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall Youth Symphony Orchestra, alongside internationally renowned pianist Emmanuel Lazaridis, introduce themselves for the first time to the audience of the SNFCC.

Merely 18 months since its inception, the Megaro Youth Symphony Orchestra (MOYSA) has already performed more than 20 concerts and has collaborated with international young musicians and personalities from Greece and abroad. Today, on stage, the Orchestra meets the internationally renowned pianist and artistic director of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, George Emmanuel Lazaridis, who spearheaded the orchestra’s creation. In this special concert, under the direction of conductor, composer, cellist and main instructor of MOYSA, Thodoris Papadimitriou, the Orchestra will take the audience on a musical journey from Mozart to Piazzolla and the Beatles, highlighting the many different aspects of its interpretative capabilities through a colorful musical kaleidoscope. The concert is symbolic in nature, as it is the first appearance of MOYSA at the now completed SNFCC. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation has supported the creation and operation of the orchestra.
